Event Photography for Honeypot Children's Charity Fundraiser (May 2019)

This year Honeypot embarked on their first darts tournament at the beautiful Fight Club in Victoria, bringing together some of their VIP and corporate supporters for an opportunity to network and raise money for the children supported by the charity.

I was absolutely thrilled to work with such a wonderful organisation as a London event photographer for their recent fundraiser in the city, which proved to be a real success. Guests got to challenge each other and play along actors Steven Mackintosh and Maggie O'Neill, while enjoying a cheerful night out and donating for a great cause: over £8,000 were raised with the help of the sponsors so that 15 new children would receive a full year’s support from the charity.

The Honeypot Children's Charity is the National Young Carer Organisation which has been providing assistance for young carers aged 5-12 for nearly 25 years. The institution helps vulnerable children by offering them respite breaks and on-going outreach support, in line with their mission that every child should make the most of their childhood.

As one of the community fundraising managers was highlighting on the evening, ‘many of the children are caring over 15 hours a week around their school careers, missing out on some unique aspects of childhood like playing with friends or learning to swim. At the Honeypot houses children come for a break to play freely with others from similar backgrounds and get a well earned rest. Parents often notice that they return to their caring duties refreshed and with a new network of friends to call upon in darker times.’

Working within the charitable sector gives Laura a sense of greater purpose to what she does: ‘The magic of childhood is such a short period of time. A time to believe in the Tooth Fairy, Father Christmas, to play and learn with your friends, and we should all do our bit to make sure that all children get to enjoy these special years in the best possible way’.
