Musical fireworks on the 4th of July!

That's how I would summarize London City Orchestra's concert 'An American in London' from St Sepulchre's Church a few weeks ago. Led by the brilliant and ever passionate conductor Pablo Urbina and with a soloist as talented as Oliver Poole, they put on the ideal performance to celebrate America's most iconic composers and of course, Independence Day!

Down in the heart of the City of London, St Sepulchre's Church vibrates through faith and music. Also known as National Musicians' Church, its beautiful Chapel is dedicated to musicians, and the beautiful stained glass windows also commemorate deceased British musical personalities. The minute I set foot inside that day, I was almost instantly transposed into a different realm. My first thought was about the beautiful location the orchestra had chosen, and as a photographer I was just overwhelmed with joy, to be able to capture the musicians in such an intimate, wonderful venue.

The all-American repertoire was very well received. It was no surprise that Pablo Urbina's amazing flair, Oliver Poole's electrifying performance of Rhapsody in Blue, and all the young musicians' dedication, took this lovely amateur orchestra to brand new heights. And this is my photographic vision of the concert experience on a 4th of July sunny afternoon.
